How to use your writing to build your readership.

There’s a lot of debate these days about what kind of marketing is most effective, but if you’re an author looking to build your readership, there’s one kind that should be top priority: Content Marketing.
What’s content marketing? It’s a sleazy-sounding term for “writing things your current and potential readers would find interesting.” That’s it! It doesn’t make you feel like a huckster selling snake-oil. But it does take a bit of effort.
The trick is to take a hard look at your book and write about all of the things related to your subject matter. Are you a romance writer? Share tips for a romantic evening. Sci-Fi? Share insight into the science behind the fiction.
Here are a few steps to get you started.
1. Make a list of keywords, subjects, and interests that apply to your work.
2. Create a schedule for yourself. Commit to something whether it’s twice a week, or twice daily.
3. Get busy! Write a blog post, write a tweet, share something you learned in research. What matters is that you’re creating the kind of material that keeps people coming back because you have something worth reading, not because you tricked them.
